What happened to April?
Comments (8) So, April came and went without a single post. Not surprising, I suppose, given the circumstances.
I started my new job around the first of April. The first few weeks were taken up with training on my new department’s operations. Even though I’m riding a desk more often than I’m riding a fire engine, I do still occasionally respond to calls, so it was necessary to go through all the basic training. Even though I’ve been a firefighter for a few years, each department does things a bit differently. It was a bit of a challenge to go back to the mindset of being the “new guy”, but ultimately, it was a very rewarding experience. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve gotten settled into my new job and already have a bunch of projects to work on, All in all, I’m enjoying it.
Life outside of work is a bit less settled. Currently, I’m living in a motorhome during the week and going down to Southern California on the weekends to see Sparkle and the princess. That’s probably the most trying part…being away from them so much of the time. But, we’re surviving, and the princess has been wonderfully good about all the strangeness in her life right now. Sparkle is coming up here next weekend so we can do some house hunting while Iris babysits. I want to take a moment here to thank her for all she’s done to help us during this time too. Every week, she comes over and takes the princess out for an evening so Sparkle (who’s for all intents and purposes a single mom right now) can have a bit of alone time. Thank you, Iris, it really means a lot to both of us.
Other than that, the whole moving thing is an interesting experience for me. I’ll like it better once we’re all back together, but I am enjoying learning a new area, and I definitely like it up here.
This past weekend, my sister got married, which was a lot of fun. We actually spent a night at the hotel where the reception was, and since Sparkle’s parents came out for the wedding and had our daughter stay in their room, Sparkle and I got to spend a bit of alone time together.
The hairbrush paddle can be very effective and quiet at the same time, as Sparkle’s bottom found out that night.

So, that’s it for now. I’m slowly working my way back into online life, and hopefully I’ll be able to blog a bit more from now on.
